Catherine Brunell recently starred as Heidi Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen at Theatre Raleigh and played Miranda Hillard opposite Rob McClure on the Broadway National Tour of Mrs. Doubtfire. She starred in Broadway's Mean Girls, where she played the triple role of Mrs. Heron/Ms. Norbury/Mrs. George, and starred as Portia in the Broadway hit, Something Rotten!. Catherine has also performed the title roles in Broadway's Mary Poppins and Thoroughly Modern Millie, and played the role of Eponine in the Broadway production of Les Misérables at the Imperial Theatre. Additional Broadway credits include Big River (revival with Deaf West Theatre, Tony Award Honor For Excellence In Theatre), A Tale of Two Cities, and Elf.
Catherine's professional career began while attending Northwestern University. As a junior, she was plucked from an open-call audition and cast in the national touring production of Les Misérables, where she covered the roles of both Eponine and Cosette. National tour and regional credits include Big River (Ford's Theatre), Anything Goes (Williamstown Theatre Festival), A Wonderful Life (Paper Mill Playhouse), A.R. Gurney's Love Letters (Skyline Theatre Company), Paramour (The Old Globe), Call Me Madam (Goodspeed Musicals), Little Women (Shaeffer Theater at Duke University), Guys and Dolls (The Muny), Roman Holiday (The Muny), and Sleeping Beauty (Barter Theatre).
Catherine received two Kevin Kline Award nominations for Best Actress for her portrayals of Laurey in Oklahoma! and Eliza in My Fair Lady at The St. Louis MUNY. Her television credits include Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, NBC's The Sound of Music Live! starring Carrie Underwood, NBC's One Night Only, and The Tony Awards.
An accomplished concert artist, Catherine has appeared as a featured soloist in Broadway concert series at theaters and concert halls across the country and as a guest soloist with the Carolina Philharmonic. She is also a two-time New York City Marathon finisher. Catherine resides in New Jersey with her husband, Chris, and their three children.
